It uses the person\u2019s phone number or the mobile app connected to Office 365. These features let you strengthen the security to Exchange Online account. A new window will appear.<\/p>\n<p>2) Click on <strong>More <\/strong>and from the drop-down menu hit on <strong>Multifactor Authentication Setup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1046\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/2.png\" alt=\"Enable or Disable Multi-Factor Authentication in Office365\" width=\"321\" height=\"283\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/2.png 321w, https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/2-300x264.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 321px) 100vw, 321px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3) Select the checkbox of the Office 365 user for whom you want to enable MFA. As you select the mailbox, on the right side a new window appears of that selected mailbox.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1047\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/3.png\" alt=\"3\" width=\"941\" height=\"270\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/3.png 941w, https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/3-300x86.png 300w, https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/3-768x220.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 941px) 100vw, 941px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>4) Hit on the <strong>Enable<\/strong> option and again click on <strong>Enable Multi-Factor Auth&#8211;&gt; Close.\u00a0<\/strong>Finally, you have set up the MFA to Office 365 account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bulk Enable Multi-Factor Authentication:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1) For enabling the multiple MFA for multiple users, you need to create a CSV file with the following details in the given format and save it .csv format.<\/p>\n<p>2) Hit on the <strong>Bulk Update<\/strong> button in the multi-factor authentication factor page.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1049\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/10.png\" alt=\"10\" width=\"571\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/10.png 571w, https:\/\/www.mailsdaddy.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/10-300x122.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 571px) 100vw, 571px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>3) Click on <strong>Browse For File<\/strong>, insert the CSV. Click the Next Arrow and it validate the CSV. Once verified again hit the next arrow and <strong>Done<\/strong>. This will assign MFA to all mailboxes for Exchange Online mentioned in the CSV.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Choose Authentication Method<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Once you have assigned MFA for the Exchange Online mailboxes, you need to choose the method for verification at the type of Office 365 account login process.<\/p>\n<p>After enabling MFA to Exchange Online mailbox, you need to login to the assigned MFA mailboxes and set up the verification method. As you open those accounts, it will ask you to provide the additional security verification type.<\/p>\n<p>There are two options to boost your Office 365 account security. You can choose any one of them.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Authentication Phone<\/strong>: If you choose this option, you need to provide your mobile number with the country code. Click <strong>Next<\/strong>, this will let your phone number get registered to Office 365 account. After this step, you will get a code, type the code and hit on the Verify button. You need to install and sign-in to the mobile app. Click on the\u00a0<strong>Setup<\/strong>. Once you click on the Setup button, you get the barcode on the screen, which you need to scan from your mobile app. Click on\u00a0<strong>Next<\/strong>. This will set up MFA for Office 365 users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_2_How_to_set_up_Multi-Factor_Authentication_Office_365_with_PowerShell\"><\/span><strong>Method 2: How to set up Multi-Factor Authentication Office 365 with PowerShell?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There are the few requirements that need to fulfill as you assign Office 365 MFA using the Window PowerShell. Below are some pre-requisites.<\/p>\n<p>(a) The latest version of .NET Framework<\/p>\n<p>(b) Microsoft Online Service Sign-in Assistant for IT Professionals RTW<\/p>\n<p>(c) Azure Active Directory Module for PowerShell (64-bit version)<\/p>\n<p>Now, follow the below steps to set up MFA for Office 365 Exchange Online with PowerShell.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a01)\u00a0<\/strong>Get all the policies to run Office 365 to remote areas.<\/p>\n<p><code>Get-ExecutionPolicy<\/code><\/p>\n<p>If the outcome is showing unrestricted then type the below command:<\/p>\n<p><code>Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted \u2013Scope CurrentUser<\/code><\/p>\n<p><b>2)\u00a0<\/b>Now connect PowerShell to the Exchange Online using the given command and enter O365 login credentials.<\/p>\n<p><code>$UserCredential = Get-Credential<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a03)<\/strong>\u00a0Import Online Service and connect it to Office 365.<\/p>\n<p><code>Import-Module MSOnline<\/code><br \/>\n<code>Connect-MsolService \u2013Credential $UserCredential<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a04)\u00a0<\/strong>Now again execute the below command.<\/p>\n<p><code>$auth = New-Object -TypeName Microsoft.Online.Administration.StrongAuthenticationRequirement<br \/>\n$auth.RelyingParty = \"*\"<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a05)\u00a0<\/strong>Select the MFA status as Enabled.<\/p>\n<p><code>$auth.State = \"Enabled\"<\/code><br \/>\n<code>$auth.RememberDevicesNotIssuedBefore = (Get-Date)<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>6) <\/strong>Finally set up MFA.<\/p>\n<p>For a single user:<br \/>\n<code>Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName &lt;UserPrincipalName&gt; - StrongAuthenticationRequirements $auth<\/code><\/p>\n<p>For multiple users:<br \/>\n<code>Get-MsolUser \u2013All | Foreach{ Set-MsolUser -UserPrincipalName $_.UserPrincipalName -StrongAuthenticationRequirements $auth}<\/code><\/p>\n<p><strong>7)<\/strong> Login to the user account, which you have assigned the MFA and provide the information for the 2-step verification process.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_to_Disable_Multi-Factor_Authentication_for_Office_365\"><\/span><strong>How to Disable <\/strong><strong>Multi-Factor Authentication for Office 365?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Method_1_How_to_Remove_Multi-Factor_Authentication_Office_365\"><\/span><strong>Method 1: How to Remove Multi-Factor Authentication Office 365?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<ol>\n<li>Sign-In to Exchange Online and enter the Admin Portal.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>User<\/strong> and then to <strong>Active Users<\/strong> page.<\/li>\n<li>Go to <strong>More&#8211;&gt;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Multifactor Authentication Setup<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Select the Exchange Online account.
