What are different office 365 mailboxes and its features?  

Office 365 is a great cloud solution with lot of benefits. It provides multiple facilities to Exchange Online users. User and Admin of Office 365 can easily manage their data on cloud. It offers unlimited storage of data to cloud mailboxes of O365 accounts. There are multiple different kinds of Exchange Online mailboxes. Users can use any of the mailboxes according to their requirement. Below are the types of mailbox of Exchange Online mailboxes. This helps in understanding each mailbox in a better way.

Types of Office 365 Mailboxes

  1. Primary
  2. Archive
  3. Shared
  4. Group
  5. Resource
  6. Distribution
  7. Contacts

Primary: The default mailboxes that users get after sign-in to an Office 365 accounts. Through this mailbox, users can send and receive emails, create calendars, contacts, notes, tasks, etc. It helps users to manage their personal Exchange Online data. Users can perform both read and write operations through this mailbox.

Archive: This is the hidden mailboxes, which user can enable to store the Office 365 data. User can move the primary mailbox data of Exchange Online to Online Archive. In this mailbox, user can only read the O365 data but do not perform the write operation.

Shared: This allows users to receive emails through common email address. It is different from the email of the individual user. A group of people shares or access the common mailbox to receive a message. User can store up to 50 GB of data without any assigned license and to increase the limit of the storage user need to assign a license.

Group: In this, users need to be added and member of the group can join the mailbox conversion. The group members can only view and operate. Admin can create the group mailbox forming a new Username and password. Admin have to add required users for that group.

Resource: It is equipment or the room mailbox. This helps users to create the mailbox of each resources. User can create the resource mailbox and everyone can reserve it for meeting using Outlook.

Distribution groups: A mailbox used to send messages to the multiple people who share the common work. Distribution groups are also called as distribution lists.

Contacts: An external mailbox that keeps all the contact-related information of each person.

Office 365 provides many mailboxes to manage data accordingly. The Exchange Online provides the well-organized platform to store and manage all-important data. It allows users to communicate more efficiently and effectively.
