[Solved] Windows Live Mail Error 0x800C013E in Windows 10/8/7

Amongst the challenges faced in Windows Live Mail, users have to face the problem of code 0x800c013E unknowingly. This makes it impossible to get any work done on live mail. If Windows Live Mail stops working, one of the reasons may be an incompatibility with the system. This requires that the user check that there is no system or app update left on the computer. If all applications and Windows are updated, follow the steps given below to solve this problem –

Visit the below address for Windows Live Mail:

  • 32 bit – C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Windows Live Mail
  • 64 bit – C: \ Program Files \ Windows Live Mail
  1. OR Paste it on File Explorer (Win + E), you can go directly to that location.
  2. Go to Properties by right-clicking wlmail.exe >> Select the Compatibility tab and mark the checkbox – “Run this program in compatibility mode for“.
  3. After that go to the drop-down menu and select Windows 7.
  4. Now come down and enable it – “Run this program as an administrator”. Apply and click on the OK button.

Restart the Windows Live Mail application and check if the problem still persists or is gone.

Create a New Account

If the first method does not resolve this error 0x800C013E then create a new Windows Live mail account. As I mentioned above, due to having the same Microsoft account, this problem can also occur. Let us know that updates of Windows Live Mail have been discontinued, in its future you will not face any error. Although many better email clients exist, if you want to use Windows Live Mail then create a new account that can eliminate your problem.

Follow the steps given below to create a new account.

  1. Open the Windows Live Mail application >> Click on the account icon and choose the option to sign out of the account.
  2. Now login with a new account and check if the 0x800C013E error is gone.

Change value from Registry Editor

This last method is related to modifying corrupted entries from registry keys. This can cause Windows Live Mail error 0x800C013E so if both of the above methods have failed, modify the Live Mail key entries by opening Registry Editor. To do this, follow the steps below.

  1. If Windows Live Mail is open, close it.
  2. Press the Windows + R key simultaneously and type “Regedit” in the Run window and press the enter button.
  3. Go the following path – HKEY_CURRENT_USER> Software> Microsoft> Windows Live Mail
  4. Search with DWORD Entries – RecreateFolderIndex, RecreateStreamIndex, or RecreateUIDLIndex.. If no such entry is available, right-click and choose New> DWORD Value. Name this entry “RecreateFolderIndex”.
  5. Double click on all entries and insert “1” inside the price data field.
  6. Close the registry and restart your PC so that the changes made take effect.
